Body parts prone to development of pressure ulcers
Pressure ulcers may develop on any part of the body.
Points particularly prone to developing pressure ulcers are:
- buttocks
- thigh bone
- upper arm bone
- spine
- shoulder blades
- back of the head
- heels
- ankles
- knees
- elbows
Other body parts may also be affected, so you should particularly bear in mind that even medical equipment may cause pressure, for instance catheters, plaster casts, nasal tubes or tracheal intubation.
