Metatarsalgia is a type of pain that occurs in a part of the foot known as the metatarsal (ball of foot). Metatarsalgia but is most common in females (walking on tiptoes, excessively high heels). The most frequent cause is the fallen metatarsal arch. In that case, individual orthopaedic insoles with a softer metatarsal part are applied, or specially shaped silicone pads for pressure relief on the metatarsal arch.
